Broadband Technician
Install and support internet, phone, and low voltage systems for homes and businesses across Central Florida. Hands on, field based, and no two days the same.
| Location | Lake Wales, FL. Daily work across Polk County and surrounding Central Florida communities. |
| Type | Full time, field based |
| Schedule | Weekdays, with a rotating on call schedule for after hours service calls. |
| Compensation | Hourly, based on experience. Company vehicle, tools, and paid training provided. |
| Apply to | careers@mornet.zone |
The Role
We are looking for a Broadband Technician who is technical, quick on their feet, and comfortable working with their hands. You will be the person who actually brings a customer online, and the person they see when something needs attention.
One day you are installing internet at a house on a lake road. The next you are running cable and setting up phones at a business, or tracking down why a connection drops every afternoon at three. You will work on your own most days, so you need to be someone who figures things out rather than waiting to be told.
A good part of this work happens off the ground. Antennas and network equipment do not get mounted at eye level, so ladders, roofs, and elevated equipment locations are a routine part of the day. We provide the safety gear and the training. You need to bring a head for heights.
What You Will Do
- Install internet service at homes and businesses. Mount and aim the equipment, run and terminate the cable, configure the router, verify the speeds, and show the customer how it works before you leave.
- Align wireless equipment for a clean, stable connection. Check signal levels and link quality and correct them on the spot rather than leaving a marginal install behind.
- Run and terminate low voltage cabling: Cat5e and Cat6, jacks, patch panels, and keystones, routed cleanly through attics, crawlspaces, walls, and conduit.
- Set up and configure customer network and phone equipment: routers, switches, Wi-Fi access points, and VoIP desk phones.
- Install low voltage systems for business customers, including cameras, access control, and structured cabling.
- Run service calls end to end. Determine whether the problem is the radio, the cable, the router, the customer’s own gear, or the network, and fix what is yours to fix.
- Work at elevated locations using ladders, rooftops, and lifts, following our safety procedures every time.
- Handle equipment upgrades, swaps, relocations, disconnects, and equipment recovery.
- Document your work: what you installed, serial numbers, addressing, photos, and clear ticket notes. The next technician on that account depends on what you wrote down.
- Represent MORnet at the customer’s door. You are often the only person from the company they ever meet in person.
What You Bring
Required
- Basic networking knowledge. You should know what an IP address is, the difference between a router and a switch, how to get into a device’s configuration page, how to run a speed test, and how to read a signal level. We will teach you our network. We are not starting from zero.
- Basic low voltage skills. Pulling and terminating cable, punching down a jack, crimping an RJ45, reading a simple diagram, and using hand and power tools safely.
- Comfortable working at height. Much of this work happens on ladders, roofs, and elevated equipment locations. If heights bother you, this is not the right job, and that is worth knowing before you apply.
- Physically up for the work. Lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds, work outdoors in Florida heat and weather, and get into attics and crawlspaces.
- Able to solve problems on your own. You will be at a customer site by yourself with a problem nobody has described to you correctly.
- Professional and courteous with customers. You are in their home or their business.
- Valid driver license and a clean driving record.
- Comfortable using a phone or tablet for tickets, photos, and documentation.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred
- Previous install experience: internet, cable, satellite, security and alarm, or structured cabling.
- Hands on with Ubiquiti, Cambium, MikroTik, or similar network and wireless equipment.
- Fiber termination, splicing, or testing experience.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30, fall protection training, or a lift certification. MSHA certification would be of value.
- Low voltage or alarm license, or FOA / CFOT fiber certification.
- VoIP or business phone system experience.
- Bilingual English and Spanish.
What We Provide
- Company vehicle and fuel for work use.
- Tools, test equipment, ladders, and safety gear.
- Fall protection and safety training, provided and paid for.
- Paid training and certifications. We would rather grow a good technician than keep hiring for one.
- A real path forward. Technicians who want to move toward network operations, fiber, or field leadership have somewhere to go here.
Compensation
- Compensation based on experience and skill.
- Overtime available, and required during storm seasons.
- Pay reviews as you pick up certifications and take on more complex work.

About MORnet Communications
MORnet Communications is a locally based technology and communications company serving residential and business customers throughout Central Florida. We deliver dependable connectivity and phone service, and we back it with the kind of customer service you only get from a company headquartered down the road. We build and run our own network, so when a customer calls, they reach the people who actually operate it.
We are growing our footprint, and we are hiring a dedicated salesperson to grow with it.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated, professional, and enthusiastic Outside Sales Representative who already knows how to close. If you are a people person who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, and helping customers find the right technology solutions, and you have the sales record to back it up, we would love to meet you.
You will sell two things, internet service and business phone service, to two kinds of customers, businesses and households. This is not an inside sales seat reading from a script. You will be out in the community, in front of business owners, at local events, and walking new neighborhoods the week our service reaches them. If you like autonomy and you are motivated by what you close, this role pays for that.
Responsibilities
- Generate new sales opportunities through face to face interaction, door to door canvassing, referrals, and community outreach.
- Prospect small and mid sized businesses in the territory: offices, medical and dental practices, retail, restaurants, hotels, churches, property managers, contractors, and local government.
- Educate potential customers on MORnet products and services, and position the right speed and package for each one.
- Sell internet service and business phone service, including multi line and multi location setups.
- Build relationships with apartment communities, HOAs, mobile home and RV parks, and developers so we are the provider of choice when residents sign up.
- Work new coverage areas as they come online and run the launch effort for them.
- Maintain strong customer relationships. Renewals, upgrades, and referrals come from customers who still hear from you.
- Coordinate with operations and field technicians so every sale you make gets installed on time and turned up right.
- Keep a clean pipeline so we can forecast off it, and report your activity weekly.
- Meet or exceed individual sales goals.
- Represent the company professionally in the community.
- Learn new products and services as our business continues to grow.
Qualifications
Required
- Two or more years of sales experience with results you can point to. Outside sales, telecommunications, technology, home services, or another product sold face to face is the strongest fit.
- You already know how to sell. We will teach you our products, our network, and our market. We are not going to teach you the fundamentals of selling.
- Comfort with self generated business. You are willing to knock on the door, make the cold call, and work a room without being sent to it.
- Professional appearance.
- Friendly, outgoing personality with a positive attitude.
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Self motivated with the ability to work independently and manage your own week.
- Quick learner who adapts well to new products and technology.
- Able to explain technology in plain language. A customer should not need to know what a megabit is to understand why our service is better.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Enjoys interacting with people from all walks of life.
- Reliable transportation, a valid Florida driver license, and current auto insurance.
Preferred
- Telecommunications, internet, cable, wireless, or technology sales background.
- Experience selling internet, phone, or managed IT services to businesses.
- Existing relationships in the Polk County and Central Florida business community.
- Familiarity with business phone service, hosted voice, or unified communications.
- Bilingual English and Spanish.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary based on experience, knowledge, and qualifications.
- Uncapped commission on new accounts, paid on both the install and the recurring monthly revenue you bring in.
- Flexible hours. Business customers are available during the day, residential customers in the evening and on weekends. You build the schedule that fits your territory.
- Mileage or vehicle allowance, phone allowance, and a laptop.
- Full product, network, and territory training. You will know our service inside out before you are asked to sell it.
- Opportunities for professional growth and advancement.
Why this job is different. You are not the twelfth rep on a floor fighting over the same leads. You will have direct access to ownership, real influence over how we price and package, and the ability to say yes to a customer without waiting on a corporate approval chain. When our network expands into a new area, you are the first person there.
Apply today. If you are looking for a career where your work ethic, personality, and drive directly impact your success, we would love to hear from you.
